Shadow Innings 28 April 2005

I delight in my proximity to RFK Stadium, home of the new Washington Nationals baseball team. This afternoon, as the innings scrolled by at RFK, I was just down the street in my house, passing my own time. But I finally decided the afternoon was too magnificent, and major league baseball too close, for me to stay inside and do freelance work. I hopped on my bike and was sitting in the center field bleachers five minutes later.

This proximity to baseball is a wonderful gift for having chosen the East Hill as my home. I can reach an RFK bleacher seat in less time than it takes most people to grab a Snickers from 7-11. In three years the Nats will leave RFK for a new home a few miles south of here. Until then, there will be many more afternoons like this one.
