Free Pass 15 April 2005

This afternoon I wandered down to RFK Stadium to witness the scene before the first professional baseball game in Washington, D.C., in 34 years. Eager fans flowed like lava down the sidewalks of southeast. Most were so single-minded in their quest to reach the stadium that they ignored the vendors offering a variety of free stuff. This gentleman, for instance, was giving away copies of a commemorative Nationals edition. But there were no takers that I saw. I guess when the weather is nice and your arms are swinging free in the breeze, free stuff is still too expensive.
