Every summer I slither along the back roads to meet a family created many years ago during a cold Alaska winter. Today we have grown up and out, scattered ourselves across the map, but still manage to convene in a different city this time every year. Some of these cities are large and notorious. Others are small and unassuming. Our time together lasts no more than three to four days, but by the final day I pine for a few hours of my own. This manifests in me walking home alone from a location we drove to together, and I typically get lost and find my way home one picture at a time.
