A portrait is but a single frame in the movie of our lives, a moment that is beyond our capacity to describe--and sometimes beyond our capacity to understand. Blame it on the eyes. It is the eyes that have a story to tell but no language with which to tell it. And so we look deeply into them and wonder.

And sometimes the story we create in wondering is far better than the story we'd ever get from knowing.
