Today I'm going back, in both time and distance, to a place that struck me at the moment, but that strikes me even more now that the moment has long since passed. It is gone now, and I miss it terribly.

It's a curious quirk, this tendency of ours, to not fully appreciate a moment until it has drifted away to a quiet cul de sac in our memory. Perhaps it is meant to be this way ... perhaps "now" is a gift we unwittingly set aside for our future.
