The typical interstate rest stop is an homage to frontage roads, instant food, and enough neon to be seen from the space shuttle. It's safe to say Monet would never have painted such a scene. But every so often, if you look close enough, you can catch a glimpse of the world before Applebees. It's only a glimpse, granted, but it always warms my heart.
