For eleven years I have lived in Washington, D.C., and for eleven years I had never visited the Library of Congress. Until today. The Library of Congress is the grandest of structures. Its construction was overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers, or at least that's what the tour guide said before I wandered off on a tour of my own. One needs neither names nor dates to feel the import of this building. It is magnificent beyond words--and the skills of an amateur photographer.
